The Rio Real Golf course, named after the river which features prominently on many of its 18 holes, is considered to be one of the best Golf courses in Marbella and a popular choice for golf holidays and breaks on the Costa del Sol, Spain.
The Spanish course was designed by Javier Arana and opened in 1965 and is set in a beautiful sloping valley with challenging greens surrounded by pine trees and offering spectacular views of the Mediterranean.
As the oldest golf course in the Marbella area of the Spanish Costa del Sol, Rio Real retains plenty of its original charm, with gently sloping palm tree-lined fairways leading to slightly elevated, well bunkered green sites. The gentle sea breeze known as the Levante adds to the technical challenge on this classic Costa del Sol golf course. The 4th hole is especially memorable, as it leads down to the crashing waves on the seafront, with the green right on the coastline.
Rio Real Golf has its own country club and Golf learning academy and regularly hosts prestigious golf tournaments.
